Measuring noise with a dummyload connected
Measuring noise using a dummy load will exclude some of the sources of noise such as transducer cable and transducer.
Prerequisites
•  The EK80 must be correctly setup for noise measurements.
Context
The external noise affecting the WBT and electrical noise related to cabling from the power supply of the WBT will be the main sources of error in this setup. You exclude the acoustic noise, and electrical noise for the transducer cable.
Note
This procedure is not applicable for EC150-3C.
Procedure
1 Disconnect all transducers by removing the transducer cables from the transceiver.
2 Replace the transducers with a dummyload.
3 Record raw data.
a Open the Operation menu. Record RAW is located on the Operation menu.
b To start data recording, select On or the red circle on the right side of the Record RAW button.

c Record for 5 minutes for each combination of parameter settings.
d To stop recording, select Off or the black rectangle on the right side of the Record RAW button.
4 Open the Setup menu.
5 Open the Diagnostics dialog box from the Setup menu.

6 Select Noise to open the page.
7 Read and record the Noise Estimate value for 10 pings.
The value will vary from ping to ping.
8 Calculate the average noise estimate from the values of the10 ping.
9 Enter this value in the table.
