1 Starting normal operation

The procedures are partly provided to get you acquainted with the basic functionality offered by the EK80, and partly to set up the EK80 for normal use. If you already know the current operational settings are acceptable, you may not need to do any of these procedures.

Prerequisites

The EK80 system is installed as specified in the Installation Manual. The operational software is installed on the computer, and ready for use.

Context

Observe these brief procedures to familiarize yourself with the basic operation. When starting up, the EK80 will automatically apply its previous settings.

Procedure

Turn on the EK80.

2 Turning on the EK80 system for Passive mode

Familiarize yourself with the user interface.

3 Getting to know the user interface

Make sure that the transceiver and transducer settings are correct.

4 Checking transceiver and transducer settings

Set Operation to Normal to start "pinging"..

5 Selecting Normal mode

Make sure that the bottom detection parameters have been set up so that the bottom is correctly detected.

6 Verifying that the bottom is correctly detected

Make sure that the transceiver parameters are set up correctly.

7 Checking and/or editing the transceiver parameters

Turn off the EK80.
